How to calibrate the digital track gauge ?

Jul. 09, 2021

The digital track gauge can only be put into use after calibration, and the calibration method directly affects its measurement data accuracy.

Initializing the calibrator (taking the tangential principle calibrator as an example)

I. The superelevation of calibrator is initialized , and its adjustment steps are as follows:

Step 1: Adjust the base and its screw on the left side of the calibrator so that the longitudinal bubble is centered.

Step 2: Adjust the base and its screw on the right so that the transverse bubble is centered. This completes the superelevation adjustment.

Step 3: Turn on the power of the digital track gauge . Switch the measuring unit of the digital track gauge to mm (metric system), adjust the superelevation (level) handwheel, make thedigital track gauge set to zero (adjust to the lowest position), and then press the zero key on the display device of the digital track gauge to set the superelevation (level) to zero. The cutting edge of the superelevation (level) measuring ruler at this time is the superelevation (level) zero position.

II. The track gauge of the calibrator is initialized, and the adjustment steps are as follows:

Step 1: Remove the measuring plate at the removable end of the calibrator and the measuring plate at the fixed end, adjust the track gauge handwheel, and adjust the removable measuring block to the maximum value.

Step 2: Place the digital track gauge on the beam of the calibrator so that one end of the gauge is in contact with the fixed end measuring block. Adjust the removable  measuring block so that the removable measuring block is in contact with the top of the digital track gauge. Turn on the power supply of the digital track gauge, and switch the measuring unit to mm (metric system), and set it to zero.

Step 3: Take out the digital track gauge, fix the movable end measuring plate and the fixed end measuring plate with screws, and complete the track gauge initialization of the calibrator.

2.     Calibration of superelevation (level) and track gauge

① Enter the calibration interface
Step 1: After entering the main function interface, select the calibration function and press  to enter the password input interface (Figure 12).
Step 2: Password input screen, display "00000". The default Settings are high to low (left to right). Press the key, the current digit will be reduced by 1, after reducing to 0, then by 1, the current digit will become 9; Press the key, add 1 to the current digit, add 1 to 9, the current digit will become 0. Adjust to the required number, press , enter the next digit setting, until all the five digits are adjusted to the set calibration password, then press , the system will judge whether the password is the same as the set password (if calibration is needed, please contact the us for the initial password). If it is the same, the correct prompt as shown in Figure 13 will appear and jump to the interface of selecting calibration items as shown in Figure 14. The interface for selecting calibration items refers to the interface with functions such as superelevation (level), track gauge, marking point and return. If there is an error, an error will appear and jump back to the main function interface.

② Calibration of superelevation (level)

Due to the different principle of superelevation (level) reproducing of track gauge, it can be divided into the superelevation (level) of sine principle and the  superelevation (level) of tangent principle. Therefore, the product has set the  superelevation (level) marking point to be adjustable, so as to be able to carry out the superelevation (level) calibration on the calibrators with different principles.

Step 1: Set the superelevation (level) marking point. Enter the calibration item selection interface as shown in FIG. 14, select " superelevation (level) marking Point", press , and enter the "superelevation (level) marking point Setting" interface as shown in FIG. 16. The factory default setting is "180.00" after the verifier is corrected (that is the real value). The user can set the value of the marking point according to the actual situation. Set from left to right, press the key, the current digit will be reduced by 1, after reducing to 0, then by 1, the current digit will become 9; Press the key, add 1 to the current digit, add 1 to 9, the current digit will become 0. Adjust to the desired number, press , and go to the next bit setting. After setting, press  to save, and the interface shown in Figure 14 will be returned automatically.

The following is an example of the factory default superelevation (level) marker 180.00. superelevation (level) marking point 180.00 refers to the true value of 160.00mm after correction by the calibrator (the calibrator of sine principle is 150.00mm height block, and the calibrator of tangent principle is the calibrator superelevation (level) digital track gauge height is 181.30mm).

Step 2: Select the calibration item selection interface as shown in FIG. 14. Select "superelevation (level)" and press  to enter the interface as shown in FIG. 14. The state indicates the need to calibrate forward 0 bits (the moveable end of the digital track guage is positive when it is higher than the fixed end). Adjust the calibrator gauge to "1435" and lock the gauge. The digital track gauge moveable probe is placed in the square hole of the fixed measurement block, the fixed probe is placed in the square hole of the fixed measurement block, and the grip is in the relaxed state. After the measured data is stable, press , calibrate and record the +0 bit data, and enter the -0 bit calibration state).

Step 3rd:  A negative 0 bit needs to be calibrated. Adjust the gauge to 180°. after the measured value is stable, calibrate and record-0-bit data according to the , and enter the-180-bit calibration state .

Step 4th:  it is necessary to calibrate the negative 180 bits. Adjust the superelevation (level) digital track gauge to "+ 181.30" (the sine verification device can be placed with 180 height blocks), that is, the "corrected 180.00" displayed on the correction instrument locks the superelevation (level). The fixed end measuring seat of the gauge is placed on the cutting edge of the superelevation (level) main ruler, and the movable end measuring seat is placed on the cutting edge of the movable end measuring plate. After the data is stable, press  to calibrate and record-180-bit data and enter the + 180-bit calibration state.

Step 5th: The state shown that the forward 180 bits need to be calibrated. Adjust the gauge to 180°. after the data is stable, press , record + 180-bit data and automatically jump to the calibration item selection interface after thesuperelevation (level) calibration is completed.

③ Track Gauge calibration

First adjust the calibrator to a superelevation 0 bit. The product has set the track gauge calibration point to be adjustable to meet the requirements of the track gauge calibration on different verification devices.

Step 1st: Set the track gauge calibration point. Enter the calibration item selection interface shown in interface figure 14, select " track gauge calibration point" and press  to enter the " track gauge calibration point setting" interface. Factory settings default to 1410.00, 1348.00, 1391.00, 1435.00, 1470.00, the user can set the value of the calibration point according to the actual situation. Set from left to right, press the key, reduce the current bit number by 1, reduce to 0, and then reduce 1, the current bit will become 9; press the key, the current bit number is added to 1, after adding to 9, add 1, and the current bit will become 0. Adjust to the required number, press , and enter a setting until it is set to the desired value . After the setting is completed, press OK/key, then enter the fixed-point setting of a standard , after setting up with the same method, press  to save, and automatically return to the figure 14 interface.

The following is an example of the default gauge calibration points 1410.00, 1348.00, 1391.00, 1435.00 and 1470.00 set by the factory.

Step 2nd: Select the interface for the calibration item shown in interface figure 14, select "gauge", and press to enter the interface. The measured values displayed in the interface, that is, the original values after sampling by the displacement sensor (used to judge the stability and authenticity of the data-the increase of the measured values is roughly equal to the increase of the calibration position ).

The status shown the "1410" bit needs to be calibrated. Adjust the gauge of the inspector to the position of "-25.00" (the gauge is 1435 to 0 "), that is, the position of the gauge of the inspector is 1410, and the gauge is locked. Put the gauge on the verification device, the probe is placed in the hole position of the measurement block of the verification device, and the grip is in a relaxed state, let the probe fully contact the measuring block and wait for the measured value to be stable (the last change does not exceed 1), calibrate and record 1410 bits of data according to the , and enter the 1348-bit calibration state .

Step 3rd: The state shown indicates that the "1348" bit needs to be calibrated. Adjust the gauge distance of the inspector to the position of "0.00", that is, the position where the gauge distance of the inspector is 1435, and lock the gauge distance. Pull the grip, let the inside of the gauge activity probe and the fixed probe contact the measuring board and the movable end measuring board of the verification device gently (which can be simply recorded as the probe inside) to keep the grip force unchanged, after the data is stable, press  to calibrate and record the 1348-bit data and enter the 1391-bit calibration state .
